Updated Super Bowl 54 odds: Struggling Chicago Bears now long shots for title

Few teams this season have been more disappointing than the Chicago Bears, who already have lost as many games through Week 8 (four) as they did the entire 2018 NFL regular season when they won the NFC North for the first time since 2010. Chicago took the second-most action of any team entering this season on the NFL futures odds to win Super Bowl LIV but following Sunday's crushing loss to the Chargers they are now +8500 long shots at FanDuel, up from +6000 entering last week.
Chicago dominated the Chargers but lost 17-16 because Eddy Pineiro missed two field goals, including a 41-yarder as time expired. Of course, he replaced Cody Parkey this offseason after Parkey double-doinked a 43-yard potential winning field goal in last year's playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Ironically, the Bears are in Philadelphia this Sunday as early 5-point underdogs on the NFL odds. Parkey, incidentally, made both his field goals and all three extra points Sunday in the Titans' win over Tampa Bay.
The New England Patriots had little trouble beating the Cleveland Browns on Sunday – Cleveland (+6500) has been arguably more disappointing than even Chicago – and they remain +250 favorites on the Super Bowl odds. Kansas City had been second most of the season but is now down to a +1400 fifth-favorite following Sunday night's home loss to Green Bay. The Chiefs were without star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and it's not yet clear if he will return this week against surging Minnesota (+1800).
FanDuel oddsmakers weren't all that impressed with the Chargers' upset victory as they remain +12000 long shots to win the Super Bowl. New Orleans got Drew Brees back from his thumb surgery on Sunday, won its sixth game in a row (31-9 over Arizona) and improved to +500 on the Super Bowl odds.
