Led by MVP candidate Ja Morant, the Memphis Grizzlies appear to be a team on the rise. They tied a franchise record with 56 victories last year, knocked off Minnesota in the first round of the playoffs and then pushed the eventual NBA champion Golden State Warriors to six games in the West semifinals. Despite that, no team in the league is taking a bigger lean on Under its 2022-23 win total at Caesars Sportsbook than the Grizzlies. The NBA season tips off tonight.

Memphis' 56-26 record last season was the second-best in the NBA, behind only the Phoenix Suns. The Grizzlies captured the Southwest Division championship, the first division title in franchise history. Memphis led the NBA in rebounds, steals and blocks, becoming the first team to lead the league in all three categories since steals and blocks became official statistics in 1973-74. The Grizz ranked fourth (114.3) in offensive rating and sixth defensively (108.9), one of only four teams to reach the Top 10 in both (Boston, Phoenix and Utah were the others).

Morant emerged as a bonafide superstar. He averaged 27.4 points, 6.7 assists and 5.7 rebounds and was named second-team All-NBA and the league's Most Improved Player. He finished seventh in NBA MVP voting and is currently a +1400 seventh favorite for this season.

Memphis opened with a betting win total of 50.5 but has been wagered down to 48.5. The Grizzlies have taken 85% of tickets on the Under, twice as many bets as any team beside the tanking Utah Jazz, who traded away all their good players this summer. No other team has collected even 80.0% of tickets on its Under. In addition, 83.8% of the handle has also come in on Memphis' Under.

It could be that bettors are hitting the Under so heavily because starting forward Jaren Jackson Jr., the team's second-most talented player, may not debut until January. He was given a 4-6 month timeline in July after undergoing a right foot procedure. He averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.3 blocks last season. He was the league's leader in blocks and named All-Defensive First Team.

Memphis opens the season Wednesday at home vs. the New York Knicks.
