If the "old" Orlando is really back then maybe the strong Magic under trends from earlier this season are back, too. We've seen more overs from Jamahl Mosley's troops lately, helped by recent exploits of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner (both 30+ vs. the Lakers). But foes aren't scoring a lot, just a tick above 105 pg across the last eight, a challenging stretch vs. some real teams such as the Rockets (twice), Cavs, Lakers, Bucks, and T-wolves. Fading Charlotte, however, doesn't qualify in that sort of company. Note that all three meetings this season have landed handily under with the last two not getting higher than 188. No false alarm this time...time to buy on the Magic! Last night's 118-106 win over the Lakers confirmed to us that the Magic might be ready for another spread run like in November when they covered 21 of 22 in one particular hot stretch. The win over the Lake Show (putting Orlando 2-0 vs. LA this season) along with the recent win over the Cavs, suggested a higher ceiling for the Magic with both Paolo Banchero (30 points last night) and Franz Wagner (32 on Monday) available at the same time. Meanwhile, the occasional Charlotte good effort is being well outnumbered by the poor showings lately with blowout losses for the Hornets in four of their last five games. Play Magic.

This has every possible indicator of being a major trap for Orlando off a marquee win at home over LeBron and the Lakers on Monday night where stars Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner both played 40 minutes or nearly so. And this is one of those one-game trips that players hate. The last time the Hornets were home, they surprised the Knicks and both LaMelo Ball and Mark Williams are set to play tonight.
