The Pistons are 0-3 to begin the season, but their schedule hasn’t exactly worked in their favor. Their three opponents have been the Pacers, Cavaliers and Celtics. Still, they lost two of those games by six or fewer points. The Heat are 1-1 after their eight-point win against the Hornets on Saturday. Even against the Hornets' bad defense, the Heat scored a modest 114 points. The Pistons look like a more competent team with Monty Williams no longer in the picture, so look for them to keep this game close.

Not much seems to have changed for the Pistons (0-3) from last season, though the schedule has been rugged in the early going and they did play the Celtics within six points on Saturday. Note that many NBA insiders had a favorable view of Detroit entering the campaign, with added veterans in Tobias Harris, Time Hardaway Jr, and Malik Beasley all to help with outside shooting. Thus, Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey should have more space to get to the rim this year, while Jaden Duren continues to improve.
