If you factor in the All Star break, Cincinnati Reds player Noelvi Marie has not had a hit in consecutive games since July 3rd. I’m looking for that to end today in a divisional series against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In four games this season against Pittsburgh, Marte has had a run in all. Extending back further to 2025 he has had a run in each of the last six games against Pittsburgh, and two home runs. Look for Marte to keep that streak alive as he clears his combination line tonight against the Pirates.
Pittsburgh has won six of its last eight games against the Reds, including the last two meetings on the road. Rhett Lowder has struggled this season, posting a 5.61 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP while allowing 23 earned runs over his last five starts. The Pirates continue to be one of the most improved offenses against right-handed pitching, batting .261 on the road. It will be a bullpen game for Pittsburgh, whose relief staff owns one of the worst ERAs in the National League, though Cincinnati's bullpen ranks right behind it. Despite the bullpen concerns, Pittsburgh's offense should be able to generate enough production against a vulnerable Reds pitching staff.
