Do-or-die for the Yanks...but might this be a bit of a price overlay? Bosox Wednesday Game 2 starter Brayan Bello recently spun seven shutout innings, allowing just 3 hits, at the Yanks on August 22 in the Bronx. That followed a similar seven shutout innings, also allowing three hits, on June 15 at Fenway Park vs. New York. Aaron Boone's bunch did avenge those defeats on Sept. 13 at Fenway but there is ample evidence that Bello can handle the Yankee offense. Meanwhile, Carlos Rodon didn't have an especially easy time vs. the Bosox this season, with a 5.74 ERA in three starts. Hardly sure the Yanks stay afloat in this series beyond tonight. We are going with the "he's due" approach. Carlos Rodon has gone under in his last 4 starts, but before that the over hit in 7 consecutive starts. The over is 3-0 this season when Rodon faces the Red Sox and 5-1 since last year when Rodon faces the Red Sox. Boston walked 3 times yesterday against Max Fried, and look for the Red Sox to have a patient approach against Rodon as they try to get to the Yankees' bullpen which struggled last night.

I win either way here as we cash or the Yankees are eliminated. Great pitching duel in Game 1. Doubt this one ends with only four runs scored. Carlos Rodon had a great season for NYY and terrific home splits (10-4, 2.98 ERA) if not great ones vs. Boston. The Sox's Brayan Bello (11-9, 3.35) had a career year but has no playoff experience. Fair amount of Yanks with decent splits off him but not Aaron Judge. Boston closer Aroldis Chapman had his first four-out save of the season last night, so that could be a factor late in this one.
