The Pirates will soon be put out of their misery for 2025. Prior to salvaging the weekend set with the A's, the Bucs had lost 12 of 13, as well as six of their last seven away. Recently reactivated Johan Oviedo is also off of his worst start since being reactivated, allowing 4 runs (including two homers) in just 5 IP of an 8-4 loss to the Cubs in his last start. Meanwhile, after sweeping the Cubs four straight, the Reds are now in a flat-footed tie with the Mets for the last NL wild card, and while Brady Singer has lost two of three starts vs. Pittsburgh, he's had an excellent September, spinning a 2.04 ERA in three starts. It's my favorite week of MLB betting. Doesn't mean it will work/be profitable, but it is because it's all about which teams are motivated and which guys already are picking out new golf gear for next week. The Reds were great to us last week and now they control their destiny for a WC spot. Can't blow it Tuesday already by losing at home to a bad Pittsburgh team that is 29 games under .500 away and long eliminated. Reds starter Brady Singer is 8-4 with a 3.07 ERA at home.
