But clubs generally emphasize trying to get some momentum ahead of a long trip, which is up next for Detroit. The Halos, meanwhile, understandably could be looking ahead toward Monday's Freeway Series home opener vs. the crosstown Dodgers. We certainly heavily prefer Detroit's Casey Mize (10-4, 3.50 ERA) over LA's Jack Kochanowicz (3-9, 5.85 ERA -- 6.30 in day starts). Both Tigers F5 and -1 are probably fine, although I worry a tad about Mize due to some recent inconsistency regarding a F5 play. The bullpen is in great shape behind him. The LA bullpen is one of the majors' worst (4.82 ERA). So that's why I'm not doing F5.
