NL All-Star David Peterson gets the ball tonight amid a highly successful July in which he's posted an 0.92 ERA across three starts, and the offense has come alive with 14 runs the past two wins, with Francisco Lindor going deep on Friday night. Meanwhile, for the Giants, Robbie Ray is off of one of his worst efforts of the season, surrendering five runs and as many hits across just 4 1/3 IP, with a pair of homers allowed, in Sunday's loss at Toronto, part of a current 2-7 SF descent. His called plus swinging strike rate has plummeted over that stretch to 25.4% (had been 28.9% prior). With his velocity also trending in the wrong direction, it’s very possible we’re seeing fatigue set in for the lefty, as he’s pitching his first full season since 2022. The Mets should pose a tough matchup for Ray, as they’ve maintained a consistently below average strike out rate against lefties this season, and have the fourth lowest team chase rate.
