Yu Darvish hasn't been great in his first two appearances of the year. Still, I'm willing to back the Padres with a much fresher bullpen over Mitchell Parker (5.57 xERA) and a Nats bullpen that basically used every arm possible last night just before Kyle Finnegan blew up for five runs allowed in the 9th. Even if Parker were to pitch well to some extent, those bullpen issues loom, and as this price is showing 10-15 cents of value for the Padres to win by at least two as the away team. They haven't been great lately against lefties but for this price I'm willing to take a shot after seeing how much work that Nats bullpen had to do to finish the game yesterday.
A 15-1 mark is hard to dismiss, which the Nats are offering into tonight with their current string of over results. It took Manny Machado's ninth-inning grand slam last night to push the game over vs. the Padres, but that's just the latest bullpen implosion from Washington, as Kyle Finnegan was the guilty party in the ninth inning. Expect more runs again on Saturday as Padres starter Yu Darvish has been ineffective since his recent activation, posting a 6.48 ERA across two starts, while the Nats' Mitchell Parker has a 9.28 ERA in a pair of July outings.
