The Diamondbacks should have swept the Padres, but they ended up only winning two of the four games. The two losses were one-run games, and they left the bases loaded multiple times last night and couldn't bring them home. Ryne Nelson is the pitcher today, and the Diamondbacks have won his last five starts, with him allowing only five runs combined. We probably have two or three weeks until the Diamondbacks decide whether their players for a playoff run or sellers, and it would be a shame to break this offense up. If I'm saying it, I know they're saying it too. Diamondbacks win and likely go over as well.
AL West observers have been keeping an eye on the Halos' pitching staff for any signs of cracks after mostly performing better than expectations the past two months. Consider the 37 runs allowed in the just-completed four-game set vs. Texas as the red alert. Friday starter Tyler Anderson, save one start last week vs. feeble Atlanta, has a 6.67 ERA in his other six starts since the start of June. The pitching matchup for Friday seems to favor visiting Arizona and Ryne Nelson, who has allowed two or fewer runs in all but one of his past 15 starts, while the D-backs have won in his last five outings. Play D-backs on the Money Line.
