FanDuel. George Kirby might still be getting his feet wet this season, but I’ve seen enough to fade him on his strikeout line tonight. Kirby is under this line in five of six starts. While he did have one dominant performance against the K-prone Angels, his called plus swinging strike rate of 25% sits well below league average (would be 21st percentile if he qualified). He’s also not been as effective as his usual self pitching to a 6.16 ERA. Traditionally less effective on the road, Kirby will take on a hot Twins team that’s put up an .810 OPS over the last week.
Joe Ryan to the rescue? The Twins don't have much choice after their pitching staff has been shredded in the current 5-game skid, allowing 51 runs (51 runs!) in the process. (Minnesota has also lost 11 of 12.) The latest meltdown began last Friday vs. the Brewers when Ryan started for Minnesota in a 17-6 loss. The bullpen has not provided much help lately, either. Meanwhile the Cal Raleigh Show continues for hot-hitting Seattle, which has now won three straight and eight of eleven, and George Kirby was spinning a 3.18 ERA across his first three June starts before running into the Wrigley Field winds last Friday (though the Mariners still won, 9-4).
