Chilly day in Minneapolis and winds blowing in from right field. A couple of regulars are sitting for the Halos, who have totaled only five runs the first two of this series. Their starting pitcher, Jose Soriano, has a 1.77 ERA in three road starts and a 0.61 ERA in two starts during the day. The Twins' Joe Ryan has been good in three starts this year and not in two. We simply must note the remarkably inefficient recent numbers of the Angels offense. Across the past four games , Halos batters have walked all of 3 times...while striking out 42 times. Push it back five games, and it's 5 walks and 54 Ks. Moneyball this ain't! Such inefficiency at the plate is symptomatic of a misguided approach solely geared to hitting homers, which the Angels have done somewhat often however with no one on base. Which is a a reason they've scored more than four runs just once in 14 games and have been outscored 16-5 across the past two days at Target Field.
