Understanding Public and Money

Think of 'Public' as the percentage of people betting on each side and 'Money' as how much money is being bet. When there's a big difference between the 'Public' and 'Money' data, it usually means that the more serious bettors (referred to as 'Sharp Money') are favoring a particular side.

Bruce's Analysis:

It's hard not to go with the Astros right now, as they've roared to five wins in a row and scored 33 runs in the process. Moreover, tonight it's time for Framber Valdez, with Houston winning in his last eight starts. Across the last six of those, Valdez has a 2.72 ERA. All in sharp contrast to recent work by the Rays' Taj Bradley, who had a hot run in July but has been battered his last two starts, allowing 9 runs and 13 hits across 9 2/3 IP in a pair of Rays losses. Micah's Analysis:

The Houston Astros have caught fire and Yordan Alvarez is smoking the ball again and they’ve won five straight. The Rays are slumping a little bit losing four of their last six after a strong run. The Rays met the Astros in early August before the five game streak started and took two out of three in Houston. The last time the Astros were in Tampa Bay they took two of three in April last year. The Astros bats have looked strong just sweeping Boston and they're going to probably go another week or so of dominating baseball before they cool off. Framber Valdez is on the mound too and the Astros have won his last eight starts. Astros to win.
