Sonny Gray owns a 5.29 road ERA. However, the Cubs are hitting .195 with a .569 OPS against righties at home over the last month. St. Louis is currently hitting .272 with a .762 OPS over the last seven days and are only 1.5 games out of the wild card. Shoto Imanaga has allowed three runs, or fewer, over his last six starts but, in the first game of a series at home, the Cubs has lost five of their last seven games.
Were we back in April, we might have found it difficult to recommend against the Cards with Sonny Gray on the mound. After all, Gray posted a microscopic 1.16 ERA that month. Since then, however, Gray's fortunes have waned, to the point his July numbers were simply bad, with a 6.75 ERA in four starts, bailed out from losing all of those by a Cards offense that provided plenty of run support on a couple of occasions. Not sure Olive Marmol wants to rely on the latter tonight vs. the Cubs' Shota Imanaga, who is just off of posting a 2.55 ERA in July. Chicago's offense also enters hot after scoring 13 vs. the Reds on Wednesday. Play Cubs on Run Line
