Yankees regulars Anthony Rizzo and Anthony Volpe are out of the lineup against dynamic Mariners rookie Bryce Miller (1.15 ERA). Volpe is struggling but always a threat on the bases. Rizzo has been the team's best all-around hitter not named Aaron Judge.

Domingo German returns from a suspension and is looking to pick up right where he left off. German has allowed fewer hits than innings pitched in all nine starts. He has been at his best over his last four, allowing nine hits and four earned runs in 17 innings, for a 2.12 ERA. Bryce Miller is having an amazing start to his big-league career, but he is overdue for a bad start after five that were well above average. Miller is solid, but I'm not going to have a knee-jerk reaction to his early success.
