Expert Picks
The Braves have trimmed the Mets' NL East lead to 3 1/2 games again, but every time this season the Mets have been pushed hard like this, they have stepped up. I'm expecting the same here. The offense will come out strong against Jake Odorizzi, who they beat a few weeks ago. On the other side is Max Scherzer, who thrives in this type of atmosphere. Also, Edwin Diaz hasn't pitched since Aug. 13, so he'll be ready to go two innings. We're gonna grab the run line here (-1.5, +118), as I like the Mets for a crooked number against Odorizzi and expect seven innings of Scherzer before two of Diaz.
Going to play this Wednesday game now because we are getting Max Scherzer (8-2, 1.93 ERA) at just -140, so if this moves it's going up not down (barring a key Mets injury tonight), and I think it should be at least -150 even as good as Atlanta is. Scherzer has a 1.36 ERA since his return from the IL on July 5, the second-best mark in MLB during that span. Less than two weeks ago, he shut out the Braves on four hits over seven with 11 Ks. Jake Odorizzi has yet to last five full innings in his two starts with Atlanta since arriving from Houston. Mets mega-prospect Brett Baty may make his MLB debut in this one as he's being called up.
