The Mariners are riding high right now, having won 12 of their last 15. The Blue Jays just lost two of three to the worst team in baseball and only managed a 2-1 win in the game they didn't lose. They then had to travel while the Mariners just sat at home overnight. The Mariners send lefty Marco Gonzales to the hill and he's in a nice groove right now (2.84 ERA in his last seven starts). Further, the Blue Jays are using a replacement starter in Casey Lawrence and the Mariners' bullpen is more reliable right now. The Mariners shouldn't be a home underdog here. Take the great value.
Ive been waiting for this line to come out all day and I was really just hoping the line wouldn’t be too juiced. But I am not sure why the Blue Jays are even favored. They have Casey Lawrence starting and he has made four appearances this season. He is really just a spot starter for the Blue Jays right now. Marco Gonzales has been very good this season, he has pitched a quality start in five of his last six games. The Blue Jays also aren’t hitting right now, they were just almost swept by the Athletics. The Mariners are 12-3 in their past 15 games even while missing a couple key players. The Blue Jays are 7-9 in their past 16 games, and they are much worse on the road. I like the Mariners to stay hot at home.
I almost picked my first MLB straight-up underdog at +120 or better for this one. I think Toronto is the better team, but the Jays played yesterday and have to start scrub journeyman Casey Lawrence (career 6.58 ERA and maybe Joey's brother) on the mound because Kevin Gausman is hurt. The Mariners are playing their best ball of the season, are expected to activate leading hitter Ty France from the injured list and start rolling Marco Gonzales, who has allowed two ER or fewer in five straight starts and was terrific in Toronto on May 18. I'll take the runline at -145. Just my style.
