Going to change up some of my strategy for a spell. Bryce Harper is back today for the Phillies, and I do lean them but not in a huge way. The Rangers runline at -140 is exactly the same price, so I'd be stupid not to take that since I expect a close game. Jon Gray is more than capable of a dominant outing for Texas -- and he's more than capable of allowing five runs in the first inning. He has a 2.52 ERA in four June starts. The Phils' Zack Wheeler has been great of late but not quite as good overall on the road (4.50 ERA) or during the day (4.95 ERA). Underdogs have really been faring well of late and this way I'm protected with a Rangers win and one-run loss.
Bryce Harper is back in the lineup and that means all systems go for the Phillies to bounce back from being shutout last night. Zack Wheeler has been by far their most dominant pitcher this season throwing six straight quality starts. He also pitched 7.2 scoreless innings against the Rangers earlier this season. Jon Gray has been much better lately, but he has still been very inconsistent. He also allowed 3 ER in just 3 IP against the Phillies earlier this season. The Phillies are 15-4 in June and 7-2 on the road while the Rangers are 8-11 in June and 3-6 at home.
