Simple math at work here: Chicago is -140 to win and Cleveland is -140 at home getting +1.5, so we have to take the Guardians. The Sox probably should be favored behind Dylan Cease (although he was quite worse on the road last year) and do have Eloy Jimenez back, but Leury Garcia hitting third? No Andrew Vaughn in the lineup (or injured Yoan Moncada, AJ Pollock). Zach Plesac (1.64 ERA) is a fine pitcher for Cleveland, which is starting all its regulars.

Zach Plesac pitched well in both of his starts this season, but the Guardians used all their top bullpen arms in getting the sweep of the doubleheader yesterday. They also played all their regulars in both games, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a player or two get the day off. The White Sox were able to save all their top bullpen arms and they rested all their starters yesterday. Dylan Cease has been very good this season and I think the White Sox will come out strong after their terrible day yesterday. I like the White Sox to salvage the series.
