There could be some weather issues in Boston, but the Sox had the advantage of Thursday off and thus have a full bullpen and should have every regular in the lineup. Miami had to play Thursday and that weak lineup has totaled six runs in the past three games -- and those were at home. Boston lefty Martin Perez (2-2, 3.55) has been a huge surprise and has a 2.22 ERA in his last five starts. Miami is 6-8 vs. southpaws this year and 1-4 in its past five series openers.
Cody Poteet is 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA this season but his most recent outings were against the banged up Mets and Phillies. The Red Sox lineup will be much tougher to navigate. Martin Perez has been pitching well and he has a 2.22 ERA in his last five starts. He has only allowed more than three runs in a start once this season and the Marlins are in the bottom half of the league in OPS against lefties. The Marlins get to add a DH tonight but I don’t think that’ll help them much. Look for the Boston bats to out hit the Marlins tonight.
