WNBA odds, lines, picks: Proven women's basketball experts reveal picks for All-Star Saturday

Calvin Wetzel and Aaron Barzilai went 590-430 on their women's NCAA basketball picks this season, and now they are focused on the WNBA 3-Point Contest and Skills Challenge on All-Star Saturday

The 2022 WNBA All-Star Weekend in Chicago begins on Saturday with the 3-Point Contest and Skills Challenge. Six of the league's top markswomen are set to compete in the 3-Point Contest. They are led by Chicago Sky guard and hometown favorite Allie Quigley, who won the event in 2017, '18 and '21. She will square off against Kelsey Plum (Aces), Ariel Atkins (Mystics), Rhyne Howard (Dream), Jewell Loyd (Storm) and Arike Ogunbowale (Wings). Meanwhile the Liberty's Sabrina Ionescu headlines the field for the Skills Challenge. The event also features Howard, Plum, Jonquel Jones (Sun), Courtney Vandersloot (Sky), Jackie Young (Aces), NaLyssa Smith (Fever) and Azura Stevens (Sky). All-Star Saturday begins at 3 p.m. ET.

Before you make any All-Star Saturday picks, you need to see what women's basketball experts Calvin Wetzel and Aaron Barzilai are saying.

Barzilai is a Ph.D. from Stanford who served as Director of Basketball Analytics for the Philadelphia 76ers. Five years ago, he founded HerHoopStats.com -- a groundbreaking website that unlocks insights about the women's game. Wetzel, the site's lead betting writer, incorporates his mathematical background and strong knowledge of women's hoops to turn the site's prediction model into picks.

Now, Barzilai and Wetzel have turned their attention to WNBA's All-Star Saturday after going 590-430 overall (+127.40 units, +13.6 percent) during the 2021-22 women's college basketball season. Anyone who has followed them has seen HUGE returns.

Wetzel and Barzilai scoured the fields and broken down the 3-Point Contest and the Skills Challenge. We can tell you that they are fading Kelsey Plum in the 3-Point Contest, even though she is having arguably the best shooting season of any of the competitors.

Barzilai and Wetzel's top choice for the 3-Point Contest is a player whom they call the "one to beat." You ABSOLUTELY need to see the experts' selections before locking in any WNBA picks or parlays.

Here are Wetzel and Barzilai's best bet for the 3-Point Contest (posted Friday):

WNBA All-Star Game 3-Point Contest
Pick: Allie Quigley

The WNBA All-Star Game is coming up on Sunday, but first we need to crown a 3-Point Contest champion. Saturday's contest will feature six of the best shooters in the league, headlined by three-time winner Allie Quigley.

Joining Quigley will be Kelsey Plum, Ariel Atkins, Rhyne Howard, Jewell Loyd and Arike Ogunbowale.

This event always gives us plenty of excitement, and all six shooters are legitimate threats to win it. Howard might be facing the biggest uphill battle as the lone rookie in the field and the player with the lowest 3-point percentage (33.8).

Loyd will bring experience after competing in last year's event, and Atkins, a fellow repeat All-Star, is capable of getting hot as well. Ogunbowale, last year's All-Star Game MVP, will give Notre Dame two alums in the field (along with Loyd).

The best 3-point percentage among participants belongs to Plum (42.0), so some may consider her the favorite.

But our pick for the winner has to be Quigley, who will be competing in the city she's called home almost her entire life. A Joliet, Ill., native who played collegiately at DePaul, Quigley has been a member of the Sky since 2013 and is currently their all-time leading scorer.

As the winner of the 2017, '18 and '21 contests, she enters this year's shootout as the one to beat.
