Twins vs. White Sox Tuesday MLB probable pitchers, odds: Josh Winder in, Chris Archer out as Minnesota makes pitching change

The moneyline for tonight's Minnesota Twins at Chicago White Sox matchup is starting to move a bit more toward the favored home team because the Twins have scratched veteran pitcher Chris Archer due to an undisclosed issue and will start rookie Josh Winder. The ML won't move a ton because Winder has been quite good. Currently, the Sox are -135 at Caesars Sportsbook.

The 25-year-old Winder is 3-2 with a 3.06 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in eight big-league starts spanning 35.1 innings. He had recently been sent down to Triple-A St. Paul but was scratched from a scheduled start Monday there and joined the Twins on their taxi squad. Winder faced the White Sox in the Twin Cities on April 24, allowing one run over four in a no-decision.

There's no word on whether Archer (2-3, 3.08 ERA) is hurt or the Twins are perhaps anticipating weather issues tonight and don't to risk him. Rain is in the forecast in the Windy City and the game at a minimum could be delayed if not postponed.

The Sox are scheduled to start Michael Kopech (2-5, 2.78 ERA). After looking great in April and May, he had some issues in June, going 1-4 with a 5.19 ERA. Kopech is a full-time starter for the first time so perhaps he's tiring a bit. He has gone 0-0 with 0.00 ERA with 11 strikeouts over seven innings and a .240 opponents' average in two career starts vs. Minnesota. Chicago has lost six straight vs. Minnesota.

Lineups aren't out yet, but it's quite possible both managers don't start an injury-prone veteran(s) – Byron Buxton? Jose Abreu? -- with the possibility of a rainout or wet conditions. Abreu is hitting better than anyone on the Sox right now with a nine-game hitting streak. He's batting .486 (17-for-35) with five doubles, one home run, five RBI and nine runs scored in that span.
