Tuesday, July 18 MLB odds, props, trends: Heavy action on Twins' Bailey Ober, Rangers' Nathan Eovaldi

Here are the most-wagered MLB player props tonight at DraftKings.

Minnesota's Bailey Ober has a career-best 2.61 ERA, which would rank second in the American League if he had enough innings to qualify, but was one of the notable snubs for the AL All-Star team. Ober makes his first start post-break Tuesday night in Seattle, and Ober Over 15.5 outs recorded at -155 is the most-wagered MLB player prop on the DraftKings board.

To record 16 outs and hit the Over, Ober would have to pitch at least 5.1 innings. He's done so in seven straight outings and has lasted less 5.1 innings just twice all year: 5 IP in a home loss to Toronto on May 29 and 5 IP in a home loss to San Francisco on May 22. Ober should be feeling as strong as possible this time of year considering he hasn't pitched since July 7, when he went six strong vs. Baltimore.

Ober has started twice in his career against the Mariners and is 1-0 with a 4.00 ERA in nine innings – he last saw the M's on April 10, 2022, at Target Field and allowed four runs over five innings. Ober is close to reaching his career high of 108.3 innings pitched, which was in 2021 between Triple-A and the majors. This year, he has pitched 82.2 innings in the majors and 17.2 innings at Triple-A St. Paul.

While Ober isn't even a Cy Young betting option, Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi is a +1200 fourth favorite at DraftKings, and Eovaldi Over 16.5 outs (-125) at home vs. Tampa Bay is the second most-wagered prop at the book. To hit the Over, Eovaldi would have to pitch 5.2 innings.

He didn't do so in his final start before the break, lasting 5.1 in Boston. Eovaldi had six straight starts before that in which he recorded at least 17 outs, including a 6.1-inning outing at Tampa Bay on June 10 in an 8-4 win. Eovaldi has pitched at least five innings in all 18 starts, the most consecutive such outings by a Ranger to open a season since Yu Darvish in 2013 (club-record 32 straight). Eovaldi ranks second in the league with 117.2 innings pitched, the most by a Rangers starter in his first 18 starts since Darvish in 2014.

Other popular MLB player props tonight at DraftKings:

    • Angels' Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 total bases (-130) vs. Yankees: Ohtani has topped 1.5 TB in all four games out of the break and has homered in three straight
    • Braves' Matt Olson Over 1.5 total bases (-130) vs. Diamondbacks: Olson doesn't have an official career at-bat (3 walks) off Arizona starter Zach Davies
    • Pirates' Mitch Keller Over 4.5 strikeouts (+105) vs. Guardians: This seems low, as Keller averages 6.8 Ks per game.
