The Super Bowl is just days away now, and it is expected to be a great matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers. But many bettors will have an eye on a different matchup as they try to cash an early ticket before the game even starts.

It will be Demi Lovato against the clock as the singer belts out "The Star Spangled Banner" before the Chiefs and 49ers take the field for the 6:30 p.m. kickoff on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The Super Bowl is known for it plethora of novelty bets, and one of the most popular is the run time of the national anthem.

The anthem should take in the ballpark of two minutes to sing, and most sportsbooks have used that standard in setting the line for Lovato's rendition. For entertainment purposes only, SportsLine has set the odds at -220 for it to go over two minutes and +180 to go under.

Lovato has performed "The Star Spangled Banner" five previous times at major professional sporting events. She sang at three World Series games and a Thanksgiving NFL game, coming in at 1:58 or under all four times. But in her most recent effort, at the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight in 2017, she logged a robust 2:11.

At big events, singers like to put their own spin on the song as they try to meet the high standard Whitney Houston set with her version at Super Bowl 25 in Tampa. Lovato is no different, pausing and stretching notes for dramatic effect.

At the same time, singers have to contend with public perception, and in the past they have been criticized for making the performance all about them or failing to do justice to the meaning of the song.

Over the past 10 years, the time has run under the two-minute mark six times, with Alicia Keys easily posting the longest time at 2:35 in 2013. The shortest version during that time frame was Kelly Clarkson's effort the previous year, which clocked in at a swift 1:34.

Many shops have set odds on numerous other aspects of the national anthem, including what Lovato will wear during the performance, what color her hair (or microphone) will be, and whether any player will take a knee during the song.

DraftKings puts a new spin on the anthem wager, offering a prop bet on whether any scoring drive will take less time than the pregame song. The sportsbook as set that line at -625 for No and +400 for Yes.
