SportsLine Analyst Releases Odds On Eli Manning's Future
Legendary betting expert Kenny "The Wizard of Odds" White has set odds on where New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning will start the 2018 season. Here is your breakdown.
With a new head coach and general manager nearly in place for the New York Giants, the fate of two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Eli Manning swirls in a fog of uncertainty.
The 14-year vet was briefly benched by then-Coach Ben McAdoo late in the season for Geno Davis before reclaiming the job. But his future is in doubt, especially with the Giants holding the No. 2 pick in the upcoming draft and a slew of quarterbacks on the market.
Here's a breakdown of where Kenny "The Wizard of Odds" White, a SportsLine expert who has set lines for some of the world's biggest casinos, believes are Manning's most realistic landing spots.
Who will Eli Manning be playing for Week 1 of the 2018 NFL season?
                 TEAM           ODDS
                 Giants           Even
                 Jaguars         4/1
                 Broncos         5/1
                 Texans          10/1
                 Cardinals        12/1
                 Bills            20/1
                 Chiefs          20/1
                Jets             20/1
                Redskins        50/1
                Browns         100/1
                Field            10/1
                Retirement       10/1
White is calling Manning's return to the Giants a coin flip. There's a good chance the 37-year-old star returns to the Giants as the starter as the team grooms his successor. Manning still possesses the hunger to compete at an elite level, but the numbers don't lie. He threw just 19 touchdown passes -- the same amount Deshaun Watson threw in seven games for the Texans before injury ended his season -- and 13 picks in 2017.
It's hard to imagine any contending team hitching Manning to its wagon and expecting him to lead. With Tom Coughlin in Jacksonville, Manning could end up with the Jags, but Blake Bortles -- who's 12 years younger than Eli -- is playing in the AFC Championship game. Manning, who is slated to earn more than $15 million next season -- would be a pricey backup.
With the Broncos likely to move on from Trevor Siemian, Denver is an intriguing stop for Manning, but its two primary receivers, Emmanuel Sanders and DeMaryius Thomas, are over 30. Houston is sitting on a gold mine with Watson and desperately needs a seasoned backup.Â
The Chiefs are likely to begin the Patrick Mahomes era so Kansas City looks doubtful, but Buffalo holds promise. After Tyrod Taylor's underwhelming wild-card loss to the Jaguars, the Bills are open to just about any quarterback idea. But their offensive line allowed a ghastly 47 sacks last season. While Manning has proven durability, bodies don't mend as quickly at 37.
If the Redskins don't sign Kirk Cousins, it's not unfathomable to think Manning could end up in Washington, although its fans might be dead set against that idea.Â
There's plenty of drama to unfold in the next eight months, but somehow I imagine Manning either sticks with the Giants or retires. There's little he needs to prove at this stage in his career, and if he's not in Big Blue's future, I'm not sure he wants to go anywhere else.
