Red Sox vs. Yankees lines, picks: Odds and predictions for MLB Sunday Night Baseball matchup from advanced computer model

SportsLine's Projection Model has generated picks for Sunday's finale of the AL East rivals' season-opening series at Yankee Stadium

The New York Yankees go for the sweep against their AL East rivals the Boston Red Sox as the teams wrap up a three-game, MLB season-opening set on Sunday Night Baseball. Boston is expected to send young right-hander Tanner Houck out to match up against veteran Yankees lefty Jordan Montgomery. This will be the third straight day the teams face off at Yankee Stadium after the Thursday's scheduled Opening Day game was postponed to Friday.

First pitch in New York is scheduled for 7:08 p.m. ET. New York is listed as a -150 favorite (risk $150 to win $100) on the money line in the latest Red Sox vs. Yankees odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over-under for total runs scored is 9 (see the latest lines for every game on our MLB odds page).

Before you consider any Yankees vs. Red Sox picks, you NEED to see the latest MLB predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

This model, which simulates every game 10,000 times, enters the 2022 MLB season coming off a 209-178 record on top-rated MLB money-line picks in 2021, returning over $700 for $100 players. Anyone following it has seen HUGE returns!

The model knows the Yankees can mash with any team in the league, and Anthony Rizzo has hit two-run homers in the first two games. Giancarlo Stanton also hit his second homer of the season in the sixth. Aaron Judge was robbed at the wall right before Rizzo's fourth-inning homer as New York's hitters pounced on pitching mistakes. Houck is a more likely candidate to make more mistakes Sunday. The veteran Montgomery allowed three runs or fewer in 24 of his 30 starts last season.

The model also has considered that the Red Sox just keep fighting. They don't have the power of the Yankees, but they do have Rafael Devers, who hit 38 homers and hit one in the opener. Xander Bogaerts hit .295 had 59 extra-base hits, driving in 79 runs. Houck is just 24, but he has a lively fastball and a wicked slider, and he could get the Yankees' free swingers to chase pitches. He allowed two earned runs over 8.1 innings and struck out 10 in two starts against the Yankees last season.

Now, the model has been analyzing the Yankees vs. Red Sox matchup from every angle, and we can tell you the model is leaning Over on the total. It also says one side of the money line has all the value! You ABSOLUTELY need to see it before locking in any MLB picks of your own.
