Red Sox vs. Angels Monday probable pitchers, odds, props: Mike Trout in worst slump of career but heavy favorite to get at least one hit
The Los Angeles Angels are on an 11-game losing streak and Mike Trout is in a funk.

Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Mike Trout grew up a Philadelphia Phillies fan in South Jersey and hadn't played a game in Philly in eight years until the Angels visited the City of Brotherly Love over the weekend. It went about as poorly as possible for both Trout and the Angels. Trout didn't get a single hit and Los Angeles lost every game. The team is on an 11-game skid entering Monday night's home series opener vs. Boston (see tickets at SportsLine). Will Trout end the longest hitless streak of his career? Caesars Sportsbook oddsmakers believe so as Over 0.5 hits for him is priced as a -224 favorite.
Sunday's loss to the Phillies was almost incomprehensible for the Angels. They led 5-0 in the fourth inning, 6-2 in the eighth and 7-6 in the ninth, only to lose 9-7 on a Bryson Stott three-run homer with two outs in the ninth after Bryce Harper tied it with a grand slam in the eighth. Trout went 0-for-3 and is hitless in his last 26 at-bats, the longest drought of his career.
"Things will start falling," Trout said. "Had some good at-bats today, just try to take it into (Monday)." Trout has been much better at home this season with a .340 batting average compared to .200 on the road. He's 3-for-6 for his career against Red Sox starting pitcher Michael Wacha.
The 11-game losing streak is the longest for the Angels since Aug. 4-15, 2016; the team had a lead in the eighth inning or later in five of the 11 losses. The have fallen under .500 at 26-27 and become only the fourth team since 1900 to lose 10 games or more in a row to fall back to .500 or worse in a season, joining the 1991 Reds, '78 A's and '70 Cubs. None of those teams made the postseason. Los Angeles is +155 to make the 2022 postseason and -190 to miss. The Halos are 0.5 games back of the final AL Wild-Card spot held by Boston. They were one game out of the AL West lead on May 24. Today they sit 8.5 games out.
LA is actually favored tonight behind Noah Syndergaard. He has been terrific at home with a 3-0 record and 1.48 ERA compared to 1-3 with a 7.88 ERA away. That lone road win was in Boston on May 3, when he allowed three runs over seven. The Angels took two of three in that series at Fenway.
