QB tiers for 2025 Fantasy Football rankings: How to break down top six, plus second-year breakout to target

There is a sweet spot most years in Fantasy Football drafts, including in 2025, where leagues that start one quarterback have an opportunity to jump on a top-tier player at value compared to who else is available at other positions. But while it's helpful to identify that tipping point and grab a top-tier quarterback, it's crucial to not overdraft a second-tier quarterback after missing out on one of the few truly elite players at the position.

Why is that? The quarterback position flattens out relatively quickly, and the standouts at the position outside of the top tier could just as well come from among the late-round flyers or undrafted signal-callers as those taken even as high as fourth or fifth. Just look at C.J. Stroud, the consensus pick after the top tier of quarterbacks was gone, who struggled to one of the lowest per-game averages among regular starters. Conversely, top scorers who were left until late or were not drafted at all included guys like Jared Goff, Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield last season.
