Packers NFL futures odds: Struggling Green Bay still favored to make playoffs

Sportsbooks still expect Aaron Rodgers & Co. to make the NFL postseason.

The Green Bay Packers traded away arguably the best receiver in the NFL this offseason in Davante Adams and never really replaced him. It has definitely shown, as four-time league MVP Aaron Rodgers hasn't come close to a 300-yard game yet and the Packers were upset losers again Sunday at home to the New York Jets, 27-10, to fall to 3-3. DraftKings oddsmakers still like them to make the playoffs, though, priced -155 to do so and +125 to miss out for the first time since 2018.

The Packers have scored 107 points (17.8 per game) so far this season. That's their fewest in any six-game span with Rodgers as their starting quarterback. No Packers team has scored fewer since 1992, when Don Majkowski opened the season as the starter before being replaced by Brett Favre.

Sunday's loss marked the first time in coach Matt LaFleur's four seasons that the Packers have lost consecutive regular-season games. Rodgers was without receivers Sammy Watkins and Christian Watson against the Jets and then lost Randall Cobb to an ankle injury. Cobb is expected to miss at least this Sunday's game at Washington, the first of three straight on the road for the Packers, if not several more.

The Packers have lost no more than four games in any of LaFleur's three seasons as their head coach, and this year they've already lost three. Green Bay has turned the ball over eight times. A year ago, if you don't count Jordan Love's start against the Chiefs when Rodgers was out with COVID, they didn't reach eight giveaways until their Week 12 game against the Rams. The team is lucky that number is only eight, as Green Bay has recovered seven of its 12 fumbles on offense.

Rodgers is 6 of 27 on deep pass attempts for 197 yards and a passer rating of 54.4. A total of 34% of his passes have been at or behind the line of scrimmage, the most of any quarterback. He's now a +5000 long shot to tie Peyton Manning with a fifth MVP Award.

"I'm not attacking anything," Rodgers said. "I just think that based on how we've played the last two weeks, I think it's going to be in our best interests to simplify things for everybody -- for the line, for the backs, for the receivers, especially with [Cobb's] injury. Just simplify some things, and maybe that'll help us get back on track."

Green Bay's updated win total is 9.5 at DraftKings with the Under a -125 favorite. Nine wins earned the Eagles a Wild Card spot last year, but the Saints went home early with the same number of wins.
