Orioles vs. Yankees Monday MLB injury report, odds: DJ LeMahieu expected back in starting lineup for New York; Andrew Heaney makes team debut

The Yankees host the Baltimore Orioles on Monday as pitcher Andrew Heaney will make his New York debut.

The New York Yankees' Trade Deadline deal for Anthony Rizzo has paid huge dividends already. One of the team's other big additions was lefty pitcher Andrew Heaney from the Angels, and he will make his New York debut on Monday against the visiting Baltimore Orioles. The Yanks also are expected to have 2020 MLB batting champion DJ LaMahieu back in the starting lineup from injury. They are heavy favorites at Caesars Sportsbook against a bad Orioles team.

Rizzo had the game-tying RBI single in the eighth inning of Sunday's win in Miami, leading the Yankees to a three-game sweep. The former Cub has five hits, two homers, three RBIs, three walks and a hit-by-pitch in his three games with New York. The Yankees still would miss the playoffs as things stand, however. They are -115 to make the postseason and -105 to miss.

LeMahieu hasn't started the past three games with a triceps issue but is expected to start Monday, according to Manager Aaron Boone. LeMahieu pinch-hit and played the last two innings in Sunday's win, going 0-for-2. He's having a bit of a down season, batting .265 with seven homers and 39 RBIs.

New York landed the 28-year-old Heaney from the Angels for two minor-league pitchers, neither of whom is considered a top prospect. Heaney didn't cost much because he was 6-7 with a 5.27 ERA this year and is set for free agency. He'll at least eat some innings. Heaney actually posted his first big-league win against the Yankees in 2015 while with the Marlins. He hasn't faced Baltimore this year and will be on the usual four days of rest after allowing three runs over six innings last Wednesday in a no-decision vs. Colorado.

Baltimore starts Jorge Lopez, one of the worst starters in the majors at 2-12 with a 6.19 ERA. On the road, he's 1-7 with a 6.52 ERA and against the Yankees this year is 0-2 with an 8.44 ERA in 10.2 innings. LeMahieu is 4-for-10 career off him with a double. Aaron Judge is 3-for-3 with two homers.

If you had bet $100 on each of Lopez's outings this year for Baltimore, you would be down $552. With the Angels, Heaney was worth -$314.

New York is 6-4 this year vs. Baltimore and 2-1 at home. The Birds have won just 17 of their past 56 overall at Yankee Stadium.
