Oaklawn Park morning line odds: Racing writer has picks, bets for the late Pick 5 for Feb. 25
SportsLine horse racing writer Gene Menez nailed four straight Kentucky Derby prep races -- the Lecomte, Southwest, Holy Bull and Sam F. Davis -- over the last five weeks. On Saturday he attacks the late Pick 5 at Oaklawn Park
World class horse racing takes place at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark., and on Saturday the late Pick 5 begins with Race 8 at 4:36 p.m. ET and ends with Race 12. Before making any Pick 5 picks, you'll want to hear what SportsLine senior writer Gene Menez has to say.
A former reporter and editor at Sports Illustrated, Menez covered an array of sports, including horse racing, for the magazine and its website for almost 14 years. Between 2010 and 2012, he served as SI's handicapper for the Triple Crown races and correctly predicted Super Saver to win the Kentucky Derby in 2010. In 2015, while writing for Sports on Earth, Menez accurately gave out the Kentucky Derby superfecta (American Pharoah, Firing Line, Dortmund and Frosted), which paid $1,268.20 for $2. Then in 2017, he tweeted out his Kentucky Derby picks, including Always Dreaming to win, and hit the Pick 4, which paid almost $6,900 on a $1 bet.
On Dec. 26, Menez hit the Pick 5 at Santa Anita Park for $798.70. And in the last five weeks he has cashed the winner of the Lecomte Stakes ($172.50), the exacta in the Southwest Stakes ($468), the winner of the Holy Bull Stakes ($180) and the winner of the Sam F. Davis Stakes ($228).
Now, Menez has handicapped the late Pick 5 at Oaklawn for Feb. 25, made his picks and formulated his bets.
We can tell you that Menez is high on Life Is Hard, the 3-1 second choice in Race 9, the second leg of the Pick 5. "I like that he stays sprinting instead of going longer," Menez told SportsLine. "He should be even better in the second start after an eight-month layoff." Menez has made Life Is Hard his top pick in Race 9 and the only horse from the race on his Pick 5 tickets.
In addition, Menez is high on a double-digit longshot on Saturday! This longshot "toyed with the field" in its last race and could spice up the Pick 5. Menez is using this longshot on his tickets, and so should you. You NEED to see his analysis before making any Pick 5 selections.
So which double-digit longshot can win? And how has Menez constructed his Pick 5 tickets? ... Join SportsLine now to get the Pick 5 selections at Oaklawn Park for Saturday, all from the racing writer who has hit four Kentucky Derby prep races in the last five weeks!
