NFL Week 9 opening line projections: Early power rating adjustments to help attack spreads for every game

The early Sunday slate in Week 9 went mostly as expected, with the two upsets coming by short home 'dogs in Carolina and Tennessee. For the former, the offense didn't look any better with Thomas Brown calling plays, as the Panthers struggled to 3.7 yards per play with no running game to speak of. But Bryce Young engineered a 15-play, 86-yard field goal drive to get the win at the buzzer. I was optimistic about the Panthers coming out of the bye, but I'm going to adjust their power rating back to where I had it prior to Week 8.

For the Titans, the offense looked the best it has all season with rookie Will Levis running the show, as he finished 19 of 29 for 238 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Three of those scores went to DeAndre Hopkins, who managed 128 yards on four receptions. It's hard to see the team going back to Ryan Tannehill when healthy if Levis can approximate that level of play moving forward, but you never know. Tennessee is on the road facing the Steelers on Thursday, and I'm keeping the Titans where I had them with Tannehill healthy, which is a massive upgrade to what we expected from Levis. But if I have spread value on the Titans in that game, I'm not going to be rushing to play them.
