NFL Week 9 best bets: Top five spread picks for premier NFL betting competition from proven expert

We responded to a tough Week 7 that saw favorites largely roll by sticking with our strategy of finding potential value on underdogs, and that resulted in a card with only one favorite. Unfortunately, Week 8 was an even bigger domination by favorites, and now we face an uphill battle to get back in the mix to cash in the Circa Million.

Is it time to adjust and go all-in on favorites? I'm strongly against doing so. The success of favorites in back-to-back weeks is likely to cause even more inflation in the market and make underdogs look even better when compared to my spread power ratings. The key will be to avoid teams that don't appear in it to win it, which seemed to be the case with the Dolphins on Thursday night after a successful first half going up and down the field resulted in only six points and a collapse after the break.
