NFL Week 7 survivor pool picks: Chiefs or bust? Whether you should fade the consensus play this week

Week 6 brought no chaos in survivor pools thanks to the Packers handling the Bengals with ease. More than half of the remaining entries in Circa Survivor had the Packers, so a Green Bay loss would've been devastating to the field. In cases where you're expected to have anywhere close to a majority of the remaining field on one team, it's better to pivot elsewhere and hope for that shocking upset that comes every so often.

Our top pick, the Steelers, had no issues coasting through against the Browns, and there may not be another time this season where it makes sense to use Pittsburgh in survivor. In large pools where you're trying to get though 18 or even 20 slates, it helps to burn those types of teams when you can so that you aren't left stretching for options at the end of the year. Saving the Packers helps get through another week where finding another pick may also be tough but where a majority of the field now can't back Green Bay, and it could also help get different on a slate where the majority is likely to be on a different side.

Week 7 brings a similar choice, with the Chiefs blinking in bright lights as a perceived free space against the Raiders. Those in 20-gameweek formats will need to think more about the strategy of using the Chiefs this week, however, as they play on both standalone holiday slates. Even if you map out a plan that involves using other teams on both of those slates, it helps to keep your options open in case injuries throw plans into peril.

Other home options this week include the Broncos against a suddenly hot Giants team and the Bears against the Saints. For those willing to consider road teams, the Patriots face a Titans team with a new head coach, while the Packers remain in play on the road against the Cardinals. The Steelers also stick out as a potential option in Cincinnati on Thursday for those who did not use them last week. But which is our top option for Week 7?
