NFL Week 5 picks: Jets keep rolling, and more best bets against the spread from Las Vegas SuperContest expert

R.J. White shares his five picks for the Westgate SuperContest after hitting on more than 57 percent of his plays in the competition over the last six years.

It was another strong week on the contest circuit, with our Circa Sports Million picks finishing 4-1 and our Westgate SuperContest picks going 3-2. Unfortunately, my favorite pick of the week was the Vikings, and their offense decided to check out of the day's proceedings after scoring a TD on the first drive. But we hit on the Ravens and Jets on both cards while also picking up wins on the Seahawks and Chargers in the Circa and the Patriots in the Westgate. We're going back to the well with at least one of those teams, as I'll share in a second.

I've been SportsLine's No. 1 NFL expert over the last four years, going 354-292-22 against the spread in particular during that stretch. I've also delivered a 57.1 percent hit rate on my SuperContest picks over the last six seasons, which is exactly what you're getting below. And that run includes two finishes in the money, including finishing 18th out of 2,748 entries back in 2017.

If you're a SportsLine subscriber, you can get all my picks, which in a typical NFL week number in the double digits, at the same time as I make them by downloading the app and signing up for alerts on my expert page. That's crucial, as you might not have access to the same lines from the Las Vegas contests, which don't move after they're posted mid-week. This week, a pick I love enough to use in both contests is on a game so putrid they exported it to London: the New York Jets +3 vs. the Atlanta Falcons.

This line has come down a touch in the market with Atlanta ruling out Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage, leaving their top receiver as Olamide Zaccheus. The Jets defense has been getting progressively better under new head coach Robert Saleh, and this isn't going to be the toughest of tests for the unit.

The Jets offense finally showed some life last week, and while I'm not ready to fully buy into the unit moving forward, it is notable that Zach Wilson will finally have Corey Davis, Jamison Crowder and Elijah Moore all available, and a Falcons defense that hasn't been great likely isn't going to keep this group off the scoreboard all day.

Then you have the London factor: based on what we've seen over the first four weeks, which of these coaching staffs do you trust to handle the logistics of an intercontinental road trip? I'm throwing my lot in with Saleh and Co. Not only is the line too high, I'm not convinced the Falcons should be favored at all.

Get the rest of my SuperContest picks and my Circa Million picks below, including a big underdog I'm putting my trust in on both cards.
