NFL Week 17 teasers: Proven NFL expert ranks top plays, which don't include Chargers beating Rams

R.J. White, who has dominated NFL ATS picks for the last five years, shares his top teaser plays for Week 17

Our Teaser of the Week got back on track with both of our teased underdogs winning outright, and both of the other teaser legs to make the rankings covering their original numbers as well. Sometimes that happens, and other times you have what happened with our first alternate teaser leg (Buccaneers) where you needed the teaser number to get the win. I'm never going to complain about a win, but hopefully you had a money-line underdog parlay with the Saints, Rams and Panthers as well.

This week, just three teams are available to go through Teaser Alley (where you pick up the 3, 4, 6 and 7 by teasing up an underdog of 1.5 to 2.5 points or teasing down a favorite of 7.5 to 8.5 points). You can find the two we prefer below, but in this space we always tackle one team that may look like a quality teaser option but is worth avoiding. Last week that was the Patriots, and that looked like the right call after the Bengals jumped out to a 22-0 halftime lead, though New England got there in the end.

In Week 17, we're going to avoid teasing the Chargers down from -6.5 and just needing them to win. The Chargers locked up a playoff spot on Monday night, but they'll still have motivation here to go after the 5-seed and a playoff matchup with the AFC South winner. They should be able to go out and beat a Rams team that still figures to be one of the worst in the league despite laying a 51-spot on the Broncos last week. But what if the Rams offense can actually compete moving forward? And what if the Chargers revert to form and find themselves in a dogfight with a clearly inferior team? They tried to let the Colts back in the game on Monday with two turnovers, but the Nick Foles offense refused to play along. They might not be so lucky here if that happens again.

So who is in our Teaser of the Week? Do we back the Bengals as home underdogs? Let's get into the picks right now.
