NFL Week 17 best bets: Top five spread picks for premier NFL betting competition from proven expert

While the Christmas slate didn't provide the most aesthetically pleasing experience with each home team starting its third-string quarterback, it certainly provided games that stayed competitive throughout. The Vikings managed to eliminate the Lions from the playoff hunt despite starting Max Brosmer, and the other two underdogs covered the closing spread. Backup QBs will square off again on Saturday night in a game with major playoff implications, as the Packers could eliminate the Ravens from the playoffs while staying alive for the NFC North crown.
