NFL Week 10 Vegas contest picks: Top spread selections from Las Vegas contest expert

If one is still standing in a Survivor contest, congratulations -- but this looks like possibly the most difficult week of the season to date given what teams entrants have remaining available.

One of the remaining 16 entries left in the $5K SuperSurvivor at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook used the Broncos successfully on Thursday night in a stressful victory over the division rival Raiders. Heading into Week 10, 1,769 of an original 18,712 entries remain alive in Circa Survivor. Nearly 15% of those entries have already used this week's biggest favorites – the Broncos, Bills, Lions, Colts and Seahawks. That makes for what feels like tiptoeing through a field of potential landmines in trying to find a selection with any confidence. If those aforementioned teams have already been used, one is left to choose from the Panthers, Bears, Buccaneers, Chargers and Packers as far as teams in the role of home favorite. If we venture over into the risky territory of road favorites, that leaves one with the Ravens, Browns, Jaguars and Rams from which to choose.

Survivor is easy, right? All you have to do is pick who wins the game. Sheesh. I guess that's why this year's winner gets over $18.7 million. My co-host on the Las Vegas Football Contest Show (www.FootballContestShow.com), Mike Pritchard, points out on our show this week that only 54 entries were still alive after successfully negotiating the first leg of the holiday gauntlet that is Thanksgiving Week in Circa Survivor last season. I have a feeling a similar pattern will hold true this season, meaning we are in for some serious carnage between now and Tuesday Dec. 2. If I was in this situation where none of the bigger favorites were available to me, I'd be on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And I would be a nervous wreck come Sunday afternoon.

The top five consensus plays were subpar once again in Week 9 in both the Circa Sports Million and the Westgate SuperContest, each going 1-4. We capitalized on such with 3-2 and 5-0 cards respectively. We are still above average but also still treading water at right around .500. With the second half of the contest season officially underway (9 of 18 weeks remaining), we decided it would be wise to roll the dice a little bit this week in an effort to swerve the majority and hopefully make up some ground on the field.
