The Ball State Cardinals open their home slate when they take on the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks in a non-conference matchup on Saturday. Tipoff is set for noon ET from John Worthen Arena in Muncie, Ind. Ball State is favored by 9.5 points at Caesars Sportsbook, while the Over-Under is set at 146.5 (see up-to-date odds for every game this week on our college basketball odds page).

Before making any Nebraska-Omaha vs. Ball State picks, you NEED to check out the college basketball predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.

Over the past five years, the proprietary computer model has generated an impressive profit of $2,200 for $100 players on its top-rated college basketball picks against the spread. Anyone who has followed it has seen HUGE returns.

The model knows the Cardinals have had a lot of success in home openers under coach James Whitford, going 7-1, and have won their last three opening games in Worthen Arena. Junior guard Luke Bumbalough led Ball State with 21 points in the season opener on 61.5 percent shooting from the floor, including 55.6 percent from 3-point range. Last season, Bumbalough played in 23 games and averaged 7.3 points, 2.8 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game. His freshman season, he played in all 31 games and started 23 of the final 24. He averaged seven points and reached double figures in nine games.

The model also knows the Mavericks return eight letterwinners and two starters – sophomore guard La'Mel Robinson and senior forward Wanjang Tut - from last year's team. Robinson averaged 9.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists and one steal over 24 games in 2020-21. He made 11 starts and scored in double figures in 11 games. He posted a career-high 23 points at South Dakota on Jan. 30, finishing 9-for-14 from the floor with three 3-pointers. Tut started all 20 games and averaged 8.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 0.6 steals and 0.6 blocks per game.
