Lakers vs. Spurs Monday NBA injury report, spread, odds: Dejounte Murray will play; Devin Vassell, Lonnie Walker doubtful
The Spurs will be short-handed in the backcourt tonight vs. the Lakers.
Believe it or not, the Los Angeles Lakers haven't won back-to-back games since early January, but they have a realistic shot to accomplish that tonight in San Antonio because while the Spurs will have All-Star Dejounte Murray available, fellow guards Devin Vassell and Lonnie Walker are both listed as doubtful. LeBron James is listed as questionable for the Lakers, but he always is and plays. San Antonio opened at -4.5 at Caesars Sportsbook but is now -2.5. Click here for model picks.Â
Murray, who is second in the NBA in triple-doubles, was originally questionable tonight with a calf contusion but will play. He averages 20.4 points, 9.4 assists and 8.4 rebounds. Criminally underrated player. Vassell originally was questionable with left groin tightness but has been downgraded to doubtful, which is how Walker is listed with a stomach illness. Walker averages 12.0 points and Vassell 11.8. The team already is a bit thin in the backcourt after sending Derrick White to Boston at the Trade Deadline.
At 24-40, the Spurs are three games out of the final play-in spot in the Western Conference. Despite being 16 games under .500, San Antonio is being outscored by just 0.2 points per game on the season. The Lakers are 28-35 and ninth in the West but being outscored on average by 2.1 points per game.
LeBron comes off a season-high 56 points Saturday in leading a 124-116 upset of Golden State. LeBron added 10 rebounds to become the oldest player in league history (37) with at least 55 points and 10 rebounds in a game. It was his highest-scoring game ever with the Lakers and tied for third-highest in his 19-year career. Again, James is probably going to be listed as questionable (knee) for the rest of the regular season. Reserve Talen Horton-Tucker is probable tonight despite tweaking his ankle on Saturday.
The Lakers are 2-1 vs. the Spurs this year. LeBron played in one of the three and had 36 points. He is given an Over/Under of 30.5 points tonight and is -130 for a double-double. The Spurs' Murray is +270 for his 13th triple-double. Only Denver's Nikola Jokic has more this season with 17.Â
