Kraken vs. Oilers Tuesday NHL injury report, odds: Leon Draisaitl expected back for Edmonton, Connor McDavid could set personal record

The Edmonton Oilers reached the NHL's Western Conference Finals last season and were expected to be conference contenders again, but have just 42 points and a slim hold on the West's final wild-card spot entering Tuesday's action. Thus, they need every win possible. Good news, then, that the NHL's second-leading scorer, Leon Draisaitl, is expected back tonight for Edmonton after a two-game injury absence. That likelihood has pushed Edmonton from a -140 home favorite at Caesars Sportsbook to -170 against the Seattle Kraken.

Draisaitl skated with his usual line alongside Warren Foegele and Kailer Yamamoto at Monday's practice for the first time since getting banged up Dec. 27 against Calgary and missing the past two games, in which Edmonton went 1-1. Teammate Connor McDavid leads the NHL with 72 points and is the clear-cut Hart Trophy favorite, and Draisaitl is second with 57 points (21 goals, 36 assists). He has 27 points on the power play and is plus-4 on the season.

Draisaitl is one power-play goal from tying Jari Kurri (107) for fourth on the Oilers' all-time power-play goals list. The Oilers are 44-for-137 on the power play this season. Their 32.1 power-play conversion percentage would be the highest in a single season in NHL history (the stat was first was tracked in 1977-78).

Fellow forward Klim Kostin also practiced Monday after missing Saturday's game with an undisclosed injury. Kostin has five goals and nine points in 22 games and will play.

Caesars won't offer player props on Draisaitl until he's officially cleared to return. McDavid is currently the -116 favorite to score an anytime goal. He has the league's longest active points streak at a career-high-tying 17 straight games, with 16 goals and 21 assists in that span.

Edmonton played in Seattle on Friday in the teams' first meeting of the season, which was also the first game of Draisaitl's absence. The Oilers won 7-2. McDavid had a goal and four assists, Zach Hyman and Kostin each scored twice, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins logged four assists. Edmonton's seven goals were the most allowed by the Kraken in the first period in franchise history.

Tuesday's game is the start a season-long seven-game road trip for the Kraken. Edmonton was dominant at home last season but is just 9-10-1 in this campaign and has lost five of its past six at Rogers Place.
