Jerry Jeudy 2023 NFL season props, odds: Denver Broncos receiver's Week 1 status in jeopardy after being carted off at practice with hamstring injury
The Denver Broncos might have an injury issue with wideout Jerry Jeudy.
The last thing Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos need is another wide receiver injury after already losing Tim Patrick and Jalen Virgil for the 2023 campaign and releasing KJ Hamler with a non-football illness designation. However, Thursday at a joint practice with the Rams, Jerry Jeudy was carted off due to an apparent hamstring injury. It's too early to tell just how serious the injury is, but we'll break down the props available on the 2020 first-round pick.
Jeudy burst onto the scene as a rookie out of Alabama, catching 52 passes for 856 yards and three scores. He took a step back in part due to injuries in 2021, catching 38 passes for 467 yards and zero touchdowns. Last year even, though the Broncos were awful on offense under former coach Nathaniel Hackett, Jeudy had respectable numbers of 67 catches for 962 yards and six scores in 15 games. Over the final five weeks of the season, Jeudy totaled 33 catches for 458 yards and three touchdowns. During that span, Jeudy ranked fourth in the NFL in receiving yards and was tied for sixth in receptions.
Overall, Wilson averaged 10.2 yards per attempt targeting Jeudy last year and 8.3 to all other receivers.Â
On Thursday, Jeudy immediately pulled up after running at full speed during a play and grabbed his hamstring. Trainers helped him walk to the cart and he left the field on it. Trainers also had to help him walk from the cart to the locker room, and he was visibly upset.
Here are available Jerry Jeudy season props at DraftKings (no O/U yards):
- To win Offensive Player of the Year: +6000
- To lead the NFL in receiving yards: +4500
- To lead NFL in receiving TDs: +4000
- To lead NFL in receptions: +4500
- Over/Under 69.5 receptions: Over -125 favorite
- To have at least 75 yards in eight games: +100
- To have at least eight TD catches & Russell Wilson to throw for at least 4000 yards: +300
Jeudy had at least 75 yards receiving in five games last year with a career high of 154 yards in the meaningless season finale against the Chargers. Broncos coach Sean Payton is scheduled to speak after Thursday's practice, so we should have a better idea on the injury. That Denver offense has reportedly looked leaps and bounds better under Payton in camp, if not so much during the two preseason games yet.
In May, the Broncos picked up Jeudy's fifth-year rookie option for 2024 at a guaranteed salary of $12.987 million. If Jeudy misses time, one of Marquez Callaway, Brandon Johnson or Kendall Hinton could move into the starting lineup alongside Courtland Sutton and second-round rookie Marvin Mims, who is a +10000 longshot for Offensive Rookie of the Year and could be forced into a bigger role. Mims was a big-play receiver at Oklahoma, averaging more than 20 yards per catch in two of his three seasons with the Sooners. The Broncos had just one wide receiver -- Jeudy -- with more than two touchdown receptions last season.
Denver is currently a 4-point home favorite for the season opener vs. the Raiders. The SportsLine Projection Model has Jeudy finishing with team highs of 4.1 catches, 58 yards and 0.41 TDs.Â
