Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 NASCAR odds: Jimmie Johnson's last ride in Atlanta

Sunday will be Jimmie Johnson's last-ever NASCAR race in Atlanta, where he has dominated in his Hall of Fame career.

Just one NASCAR race this week and it's the Cup Series' lone 2020 trip to Atlanta Motor Speedway – it used to hold two races per year but that ended in 2010 – for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET. Assuming that seven-time points champion Jimmie Johnson will indeed retire after this season as he has said, it's JJ's last visit to a track where he has had incredible success. However, he is a +1800 longer shot to win Sunday's race on the moneyline odds at William Hill sportsbook.

The all-time leader in NASCAR Cup Series wins at Atlanta is the late Dale Earnhardt with nine, but Johnson is tied for the most ever in this race with four and has five overall at the track – tops among active drivers. In fact, Johnson leads all current drivers with 14 Top 5s and 16 Top 10s. His 586 laps led are third.

Johnson won this race – whatever it was called at the time – in 2004, '07, 2015-16. Earnhardt, Richard Petty and Bobby Labonte are the other four-time winners of this event. Johnson's 12.0 average finish in Atlanta over his 28 starts is third-best among active drivers, and his 28 career wins on 1.5-mile tracks (like Atlanta) are the most in NASCAR history.

Johnson's 83 career victories overall are tied with Cale Yarborough for sixth all-time and easily the most among active drivers. However, JJ hasn't won since June 4, 2017, at Dover and hasn't been better than 19th in his past three trips to Atlanta Motor Speedway. Johnson does come off a third-place finish last Sunday at Bristol, his fourth Top 10 of the year.

Johnson is a +105 underdog head-to-head against Ryan Blaney (-125). The latter has raced four times in Atlanta and has an average finish of 19.2 with a best of 12th. Last Sunday at Bristol, Blaney was the race-leader when he wrecked and finished 40th-DNF. He was third in the previous two races at Charlotte.
