Fantasy Football draft strategy 2025: WR approaches for PPR and half-PPR leagues

SportsLine's Josh Nagel gives his 2025 Fantasy football receiver drafting strategies

By@JoshNagel1Updated: Aug 16, 2025 7:20PM UTC . 1 min read

Wide receivers are generally considered tantamount to liquid gold in Fantasy football leagues that use full point-per-reception (PPR) and half-PPR (0.5 points per reception) scoring. Top-rated wideouts are seen as having immense standalone value that is only likely to increase and, at worst, a baseline worth that will rarely, if ever, depreciate.

But is it possible some of these assets are fool's gold? This largely depends on the perspective of the lens through whomever is holding the gem. In other words, there is no right or wrong answer, as there are many ways to win at Fantasy football and your approach may vary.

Below, we will look at draft strategies for receivers in PPR and half-PPR leagues. We're not going to advise you on who to draft so much as how to draft based on our experience and preferred approaches.

The current average draft position (ADP) in CBS leagues will be used for reference purposes.
