Fantasy Football draft strategy 2025: Snake draft strategy

SportsLine's Josh Nagel gives his essential tips for a snake draft Fantasy league

Although salary cap drafts are rising in popularity, the majority of Fantasy football leagues still use a standard or "snake" draft, meaning each manager will select in the position opposite of where they selected the previous round as the draft order weaves through each round. For instance, the player with the No. 3 overall slot in the first round will make the No. 10 pick in the second round, No. 22 overall, and so forth in a 12-team league.

Moreover, full point-per-reception (PPR) has become the borderline standard of scoring preference for Fantasy football leagues, although many prefer half-PPR (0.5) and some still use "standard" scoring in which no points are awarded for receptions. With this in mind, the information below will be aimed toward a PPR/half-PPR audience, though many of the principles can be applied to all scoring formats.

Below, you'll find a list of practical strategic tips for a snake draft Fantasy league.
