Fantasy Football draft strategy 2025: Projected busts relative to ADP

Non-injury roster busts are the annual death knell of Fantasy football rosters across all formats. It's one thing to have an unexpected injury put an end to your Fantasy championship hopes, as countless managers experience annually.

Last year's injury busts included the likes of Bucs WR Chris Godwin and Chiefs WR Rashee Rice, both of whom were on pace for career seasons before sudden injuries ended their campaigns. Injury-prone RB Christian McCaffrey went from being the Fantasy football MVP in 2023 to wrecking the dreams of numerous Fantasy managers before the season even started, as under-reported injury concerns kept him out most of the season even after 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan repeatedly asserted the dual-threat star would be in the Week 1 lineup.

Although injuries and extremely bad luck are both part of Fantasy football and beyond anyone's control, non-injury roster busts arguably hurt the most. Player X didn't get hurt or unexpectedly see a reduced role. He was on the field for his team and on your active roster, but he just didn't produce. Your preseason hot take returned an ice-cold result, and your Fantasy season failed because of it.

Non-injury busts can be just as difficult to predict as breakouts or sleepers, and we all have our biases that lend toward gravitating toward or staying away from certain players. With this in mind, below is my list of projected non-injury Fantasy football busts, relative to their average draft position (ADP) in CBS leagues, for the 2025 NFL season:
