Best bets for Thursday, July 10
A key matchup in the AL East between the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox takes place at 7:10 p.m. ET, with Tampa third in the division and holding a Wild Card spot while Boston has won eight of its last 10 and is tied for the third and final Wild Card spot in the American League. Taj Bradley (5-6, 4.79 ERA) starts for the Rays while Walker Buehler (6-6, 6.25 ERA) starts for the Red Sox. Bradley allowed three earned runs in 5.2 innings against the Minnesota Twins in his last start, while Buehler had one of his best starts of the year his last time out, allowing two earned runs to the Washington Nationals across five innings. The SportsLine Projection Model has a 'B' grade on the spread in this one, with the Red Sox covering +1.5 in 65% of model simulations. Expert Jake Fetner has also locked in a player prop for a key Tampa Bay player to homer.Â
Two WNBA games will take place Thursday, including when the Lynx, who have the best record in the WNBA at 17-3, take on the 6-13 Sparks. Minnesota dropped just its third game of the year last night to the Phoenix Mercury and are looking to get back in the win column in its second game in as many days while the Sparks haven't played since winning 89-87 over the Indiana Fever on Saturday. WNBA experts Calvin Wetzel and Aaron Barzilai have locked in picks for this game and the Aces-Mystics matchup, including backing one of Minnesota and Los Angeles on the spread. Check out their picks for Thursday's WNBA slate here.
For those looking ahead, Friday will be the quarterfinals of the men's side of Wimbledon, as two-time defending champ Carlos Alcaraz faces Taylor Fritz, while World No. 1 Jannik Sinner faces seven-time Wimbledon champ Novak Djokovic. The winner of those two Friday matches will square off for the title on Sunday, July 13. The women's semifinals began early today, and the winner of Iga Swiatek and Belinda Bencic takes on Amanda Anisimova on Saturday in the final. Check out picks for Sinner vs. Dkojovic from expert Jose Onorato here.
As for golf, the Scottish Open began this morning in the final PGA Tour event before The Open Championship next week, which is the final major of the 2025 season. Robert MacIntyre won the Scottish Open last year, while Rory McIlroy took home the title in 2023. Jake Knapp, Nicolas Echavarria and Sepp Straka are the early leaders, with each finishing the first round at -6.
