Eagles vs. Texans Thursday NFL Week 9 odds, trends: Bettors all over heavy favorite Philadelphia, Miles Sanders to score touchdown

The Eagles figure to stay unbeaten tonight when they visit Houston as double-digit favorites.

Apparently, bettors at BetMGM don't much care that since 2020, road favorites of 13 or more points are just 3-10 against the spread because the unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles at -13.5 are taking huge action at the one-win Houston Texans tonight to kick off Week 9. The two most-wagered player props at the book as of this writing are on Eagles running back Miles Sanders. Click here for model picks.

A total of 75% of the bets and 72% of the money on are on the Eagles against the spread. The total opened at 43.5 but is up to 45.5 and 46% of all bets and 54% of the money has gone to the Over.

This spread is still -14 at some books, and that would make Philadelphia the largest road favorite in the history of Thursday Night Football. In 2007, Indianapolis was -13.5 in Atlanta and won 31-13. If the Eagles win here, and that seems obviously likely, they are in great shape to be 9-0 entering Week 11 at Indianapolis because Philly will be a solid home favorite in Week 10 vs. Washington.

Philadelphia leads the league with a plus-14 turnover differential and has a league-low two giveaways through its first seven games. The Eagles have become the second team in the Super Bowl era with two or fewer giveaways through their first seven games of a season, joining the 2017 Kansas City Chiefs (one giveaway). The Eagles have been amazing in the first half of games as well, leading the league with an average of 21 points scored and going 7-0 ATS.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, the +350 second favorite for MVP, has won 10 consecutive starts, including his final three starts of the 2021 season. It's the longest such streak by a quarterback in Eagles franchise history. Last week, he set career highs in touchdown passes (four) and passer rating (140.6) in the team's 35-13 win over Pittsburgh. He is the -130 favorite to be an anytime TD scorer tonight and is set at over/under 238.5 passing yards and 39.5 rushing yards. Hurts leads all NFC quarterbacks in combined passing and rushing yards per game (300.3).

Sanders is +650 to score the game's first touchdown. It's the most-wagered prop at BetMGM. Sanders +105 for an anytime TD is next at +105. He has five touchdowns on the year and four rushing touchdowns in his past four.

The third most-wagered prop is on Houston quarterback Davis Mills Under 217.5 passing yards at -115. He will be without his two top receivers in Nico Collins and Brandin Cooks. Mills had just 152 yards Sunday in a loss to Tennessee and most of those came in garbage time. Cooks played but Collins didn't.
