Bucs' Jameis Winston takes over favored role to lead the NFL in passing yards

Entering Week 10, Detroit's Matthew Stafford was the +150 favorite on the DraftKings NFL futures odds to lead the league in passing yards for the first time. Then in a major surprise, Stafford was scratched Sunday morning for the Lions' game in Chicago because of back issues. That ended his streak of 136 straight starts. It also cost Stafford the favored role to lead in passing yards as he's now down to +1100. Not clear yet if he will be able to play this Sunday at home vs. the Dallas Cowboys, but Stafford said he has no plans of being shut down for the season.

The new betting favorite to lead in passing yards is Tampa Bay's Jameis Winston – the Bucs have never had a quarterback lead the league in passing yardage. Winston, who is +250 on the NFL odds, is third with 2,765 yards. His per game average of 307.2 yards is fourth behind Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes (328.3), Stafford (312.4) and the Cowboys' Dak Prescott (308.6). Winston has thrown for at least 301 yards in four straight games and had 358 in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Arizona Cardinals. His Bucs are 5.5-point underdogs on the NFL odds this Sunday at home vs. New Orleans.

Prescott is the +275 second-favorite on this prop. Believe it or not, no Cowboy has led the league in passing yards, which is surprising. Tony Romo holds the franchise single-season record with 4,903 yards in 2012, but Drew Brees led that year with 5,177.

Mahomes is +400 followed by the Rams' Jared Goff (+800) and Falcons' Matt Ryan (+900). Obviously missing two games is going to seriously hurt Mahomes' chances. He's fifth with 2,626 passing yards. The Chargers' Philip Rivers leads with 2,816, but the Bolts haven't had their bye week yet. Thus, Rivers is a longer shot at +1400.
